Choreographer / Development Coach
Chihiro was the Head Coach of Aqurab Fujisawa (Kanagawa Japan) Club for 11 years where she developed many young athletes including Kano Omata who was a member of the 2016 Japan Olympic Team. Working with the Granite Synchro Club in Toronto from 2012-2017, Chihiro coached across all age groups, leading many athletes to provincial and national podium successes. Chihiro has worked with athletes from RTC Ontario and Canada's National Senior Team as well as athletes from Aruba and Brazil. Chihiro's greatest gift is her ability to understand and interpret music, enabling her to create meaning and impact in all of her routine choreography. Chihiro has been working with York since 2019 to develop and create many award winning routines.
Athletix Academy offers evidence-based cross-training to support the development of today’s elite athlete. We are a collective of professionals with a passion for sports exercise, therapeutics, mindful movement, and the performing arts. Our love for continuing education and high-quality instruction is the centre of our programming. We are dedicated to promoting self-awareness, athletic education, and the importance of cross-training for today’s artistic athlete.
Edit was born in Hungary. She graduated from the Physical Education University of Budapest as a Swim Coach and received her Degree in Sports Management from the University of Semmelweis. She is an outgoing, outspoken competitor and she holds the Level 2 NCCP certification in Canada and working on her Level 3 this season. Edit has over 20 years of experience in the competitive swimming environment. Her swimmers have earned multiple provincial medals; they broke more than 100 club records, qualified for finals at Canadian Junior National Championship and won medals at the Ontario Open Water Championship. Edit served as the Head Age Group Coach at the Ducks Swimming Club in Aurora for 7 seasons and worked with the York Artistic Swim club in the past 5+ seasons. Currently, Edit is Head Coach of the Newmarket Stingrays.
Karen graduated from Queen's University with a Degree in Dramatic Arts. She has an MBA from the University of Windsor, a Bachelor of Education from York University and she holds an Honours Specialist in Dramatic Arts Education from OISE, University of Toronto. Karen is currently the Department Head of Dramatic Arts at Richmond Green Secondary School in Richmond Hill. Karen is an expert at helping students create character through the development of meaningful expressions using facial expressions and gestures. She is a passionate and enthusiastic instructor who encourages her students to strive for excellence in performance.
